Empowering Through Education: Government School Visits

One of the key initiatives undertaken by Project Hayd has been our visits to local government schools, where we have had the opportunity to engage directly with young girls and their teachers. These visits aim to create a safe space for open dialogue, raise awareness about menstrual health, and provide practical support.

In collaboration with the Paree Foundation, we have amplified the impact of these visits by combining our educational approach with their resources and expertise. Together, we conducted interactive workshops to educate students about the biological aspects of menstruation, breaking down myths and misconceptions that often cloud understanding. To ensure the information was accessible and relatable, we used visual aids, simple language, and real-life examples.

A significant aspect of our approach was addressing the cultural taboos and embarrassment that many young girls feel about their periods. By fostering honest conversations, we encouraged them to ask questions and share their experiences. For many, this was the first time they could discuss menstruation openly without fear of judgment.

With the support of Paree Foundation, we also provided free, hygienic menstrual pads to all the participants, emphasizing the importance of proper menstrual hygiene. These distributions were paired with demonstrations on how to use and dispose of the products safely, ensuring both environmental and personal safety.

Teachers and staff were also involved in these workshops, as they play a crucial role in sustaining these conversations and providing continued support to students. We collaborated with them to establish a more inclusive and understanding environment in schools, encouraging them to act as allies in normalizing menstruation.

Our visits to government schools, strengthened by partnerships like that with the Paree Foundation, are more than just one-time events; they represent a step toward long-term change. By reaching young girls and equipping them with knowledge and resources, we’re building a foundation for a healthier, more confident generation.

Together, we’re breaking barriers and rewriting the narrative around menstrual health—one school at a time.
